Welcome to the Alamo Lake area ~ located just north of Wenden, AZ. at the edge of the Rawhide and Buckskin Mtns in the Bill Williams River Valley - were the Big Sandy & the Santa Maria Rivers come together. The Alamo Dam was built in 1968 as a flood control method - and has turned into a fisherman's haven.

Alamo Lake is noted as one of the best bass fishing lakes in the western US and is stocked with large-mouth bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie. Alamo Lake is approx. 38 miles north of Wenden off Hwy 60; the area attracts visitors for camping, fishing, water skiing, desert hikes, birdwatching, sunsets, and for some, a destination point for a quad, jeep or buggy ride.

Follow road signs from Wenden on US Hwy 60 approximately 50 miles west of Wickenburg. Turn north, the well paved road wanders out through the desert and ends at Alamo Lake (approx. 38 miles north of Wenden). Remember that this is a remote area, hot and dry in the summer - and there is very little besides desert creatures between Wenden and Alamo Lake. Always have water with you on this beautiful desert journey. The Wayside Inn & RV Park is located east of the lake and state park. Watch for signs shortly before coming into the park area.
